Fort Myers, FL – The law firm of Fowler White Boggs Banker has announced the establishment of a $50,000 scholarship fund to assist students in obtaining accounting degrees. The Certified Public Accountant’s Scholarship Fund is an endowed scholarship fund that will provide up to two scholarships per year.
Denise Wheeler, managing shareholder of the Fort Myers' office, made the announcement along with Julia East, President and CEO of the Southwest Florida Community Foundation. “The law firm has long conducted annual education programs for accountants to assist them in receiving their annual continuing education credits. Our firm has used the proceeds from those programs to establish a fund with the Southwest Florida Community Foundation. Students from our community can apply for scholarships annually to assist them in obtaining their accounting degrees, said Ms. Wheeler."
Julia East, commented, “We are so grateful to Fowler White for offering deserving students the opportunity to obtain a degree in a high demand profession. With the rising costs of eduction, these scholarships may make the difference in a student getting their degree when they might not otherwise be able to afford it.”
The law firm will be hosting this year’s CPE Extravaganza on June 17, 2008, at the Harborside Convention Center. For registration information, visit www.fowlerwhite.com. Proceeds will once again go to the Certified Public Accountant’s Scholarship Fund.
