Many other practices complement the International Practice Group in serving companies and individuals with foreign interests, as well as foreign parties with interests in the U.S. The attorneys in the Business Transactions and Corporate Law Practice Group have a great deal of experience in international business, including cross-border acquisitions and sales transactions, agreements relating to international trade matters, export compliance, international franchising, distribution and licensing agreements, and international patent and copyright registration, as well as other intellectual property protection matters. Lawyers in this practice group also regularly serve banking and financial service industries addressing issues under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Department of Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control and related topics, and provide advice to clients in a variety of industries with respect to U.S. regulations affecting cross-border dealings, including the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act, the U.S. embargo of Cuba, and other similar laws and regulations. Our lawyers have specific regional expertise in Latin America, Canada and the Pacific Rim. Through our firm’s affiliation with the international network of TerraLex firms, we also have the capability to provide legal services in most regions of the world with expertise on-the-ground in most countries.
